ValvTechnologies Goes for Gold in 2014 Winter Olympics Apr 6, 2010
Houston, TX - ValvTechnologies has received their invitation to the 2014 Olympics.  ValvTechnologies recently received an order from their Russian distributor, Energomash, to manufacture steam valves for the new Gazprom Adler Combined Heat and Power Station (CHPS) in Sochi, Russia.  Sochi is a resort town near the Black Sea and the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The valves are safety relief valves installed on the boiler with a manual override.  They will be used in a similar fasion as ValvTechnologies’ isolation Electronic Relief Valve (ERV) which utilizes electronic controls to relieve system pressure, when necessary.  Gazprom chose ValvTechnologies valves because of their history of reliability and dependability.

The Adler CHPS is a 360 megawatt combined-cycle gas turbine plant comprising of two power units. Currently, the majority of the energy demand in Sochi is covered by systems in adjacent areas.  Sochi on average consumes 424 megawatts of energy.  However, an additional 340 megawatts are needed for the demand the Olympic village will require, not including the additional new business planned to take up residence in Sochi in conjunction with the Olympics.  In addition to the Adler CHPS being built, four electrical substations are being constructed in the region along with a thermal power station and hydroelectric power station.  According to Russian energy experts, this will increase the energy network by two and a half times by 2014 to guarantee a stable electrical supply for the games and beyond.

ValvTechnologies, headquartered in Houston, Texas, has been in business since 1987 and employs nearly 500 employees worldwide.  Corporate offices are located in the United Kingdom, Mainland Europe, China, the Middle East and South America.  Manufacturer representatives can be found worldwide.  To find out more about the products or services offered or to locate a representative, visit www.valv.com.
