HOUSTON, TX – ValvTechnologies, Inc. was invited to present on Emergency Shutdown Valves (ESD) in Severe Service at the 70th Annual Instrumentation and Automation Symposium for the Process Industries on January 29, 2015.
ValvTechnologies provided expert insight on proper valve selection for emergency shutdown valves in severe service applications, defined as state change conditions, elevated/change temperatures and high-pressure.
“When evaluating emergency shutdown valves, one must create a plan for the worst possible conditions and build a valve package to accommodate,” explained the Downstream and Chemical Processing Industry Director. “Only by looking at the true requirements in each individual application, in design of the control loops and partnering with a valve manufacturer early in the process, can a successful engineering requirement be created.”
Emergency shutdown valves are among the most important pieces of equipment in modern process operation. Clear trends in process industries demand longer operating times between maintenance cycles and operating existing equipment at or above rated capacities. Selecting the correct valve and actuator combination for each unique, critical application is required to eliminate the question of system reliability, even during long periods of inactivity.
