  • Simplified, Robust Design: Design enhancements to reduce potential leak paths, minimize maintenance, and extend service life. Fewer moving parts mean fewer failures and lower total cost of ownership.
  • Seamless Integration with ValvTechnologies Valves: optimized to pair with ValvTechnologies’ valves, creating a fully integrated severe-service solution. This synergy ensures maximum performance and reliability across the entire valve-actuator package.
  • Designed for severe service environments. Purpose-built for large bore isolation valves.
  • Simplified, Robust Design:  Opposite chambers in the actuator are connected by pressure equalizing passages in the upper and lower head.
  • Simplified, Robust Design:  The actuator produces well-balanced torque as hydraulic force pushes both of the rotary vanes away from the shoes

RVA: Rotary Vane Actuator Frequently Asked Questions

How does a rotary vane actuator compare to rack-and-pinion actuators?

Rotary vane actuators deliver significantly higher torque output in a more compact form factor. Their constant torque performance, simplified design with fewer moving parts, and enhanced reliability make them superior to rack-and-pinion actuators, especially in demanding service conditions.

RVA supports a standard 90° rotation +/- 5 degrees with adjustable stops and over-travel capability, ensuring precise valve alignment and sealing.

The RVA actuator delivers consistent, high torque throughout the entire stroke, configurable for mid-size to large valves, powered hydraulically up to 3,000 psi with torque output reaching 11,800 in-lb.

The minimum operating pressure is 250 PSI. RVA actuators support pressures up to 3,000 PSI (207 bar), delivering reliable performance in severe-service environments. Maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) varies by actuator size: smaller models are rated up to 3,000 PSI, mid-range models up to 2,000 PSI, and larger sizes up to 1,500 PSI. Higher pressure options are available upon request.

Standard range is -20°F to 180°F (-29°C to 82°C), with options for arctic service down to -76°F (-60°C).
